‘Mountains Surround Me’

A true Paddock to Person creation with merino fleece sourced from a Central Otago high country sheep station, hand felted into fabric by an artisan felter, then hand beaded and tailored by designer/maker Jane Avery.

The bead work adorning the shoulders of this raglan sleeve coat evokes the beauty of the Central Otago landscape. The front view features the Old Man Range while the back captures the iconic outline of Leaning Rock. ‘Mountains Surround Me’ began with sketches of Jane’s everyday view and pays homage to the shapes and hues of the surrounding grandeur.

One of a three piece capsule collection awarded Supreme Winner of the Central Otago WoolOn Creative Fashion Event 2023.  Now part of the permanent WoolOn collection at Alexandra’s Central Stories museum.
