‘Carex’

A true Paddock to Person creation with merino fleece sourced from a Central Otago high country sheep station, hand felted into panels by an artisan felter, then hand beaded and tailored by designer/maker Jane Avery.

A classic long coat with a rabbit fur shawl collar. The back features a hand-beaded impression of the ubiquitous New Zealand high country tussock in hues of gold, brown and green.  Ambitious and experimental, stitching the seed beads was a time consuming exercise in interpretation and knowing when to say when.

One of a three piece capsule collection awarded Supreme Winner of the Central Otago WoolOn Creative Fashion Event 2023.  Now part of the permanent WoolOn collection.
